The crews will be Royal British Coast Guard Volunteers.
This is in order that our revered Royal Navy cannot be cited of involvement in controversial political migration and asylum issues.
British Armed Forces will not take part in Political Immigration Operations at this juncture.
The British Sancturian Initiative:
Will Proactively rescue migrants in distress in the English Channel. The P2000 vessels, with their advanced capabilities, will provide critical support in spotting and rescuing those in need. Following medical assessment, those rescued will be transported to a secure RAF base for further evaluation.
